ANN ARBOR – The College of Michigan Photo voltaic Motor vehicle Group unveiled their new solar automobile, “Aevum,” on June 10 in the Michigan Union’s ballroom to project sponsors and associates from the automotive and solar industries.
The biannual Bridgestone Earth Solar Obstacle was canceled in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and vacation restrictions to host region Australia.
The crew created Aevum to fulfill the 2021 race specs and hope to boost their car design in advance of the race in 2023.
A new requirement for the race is for the vehicle to accommodate a 6′4′’ mannequin in the driver’s seat. The race also banned gallium arsenide photo voltaic cells in favor of silicon cells, which are more environmentally welcoming. In addition, the workforce has adopted a streamlined condition for the car to boost the surface location for photo voltaic cells.
