The Wichita Falls Fire Department was summoned to a Dollar General store in the 2700 block of Southwest Parkway Wednesday afternoon.
According to WFFD Assistant Fire Marshal Edward Mawson, the call came in just after 3:30 p.m.
The first firefighters on scene found several propane tanks inside an exchange case at the front of the store on fire and called a second alarm because of the hazard.
They worked quickly and extinguished the blaze.
The store manager told firefighters they noticed the fire and tried to extinguish it. Once they saw how big the fire was, they evacuated the store and called the fire department.
Mawson said the fire caused approximately $50,000 in damage to the store and its contents.
No injuries were reported and the cause is under investigation.
